Love Shack

Scott definitely took a bigger risk than me by moving in. Because I had already had a fully decorated apartment with nicer furniture, Scott gave away almost everything he had. His futon and matching (?!) papasan chair, his particle board bookcase, and his coffee table that consisted of a suitcase on top of a milk crate. In the end, we packed a few boxes of clothes and everything Scott took with him to the new apartment fit in the back of my Explorer. Scott's moving in was completely uneventful.

His father came over that afternoon. After approving of the apartment and the building I we live in, he sat down on the couch and turned on the football game. I fetched the boys beers and I began to unpack Scott's box of cooking pans and food. I stood on the other end of the kitchen island and watched the boys drink and watch the game—both seemed completely at home nestled in my our living room. It was then it hit me that this is official. I live with someone and his father is on the couch and drinking beer. My underwear is folded in the dresser in the next room. I don't know if I've ever had a boyfriend's father in such a close proximity to my underwear before.

I forced myself to calm down and continued unwrapping glasses. Father and son had moved out onto the balcony to admire the view: the pool of course, and not the ladies sunbathing adjacent to it. Besides, my father still has no idea that anyone is in such close proximity to my underwear; my parents don't know about Scott's moving in. He's giving me until Christmas to tell them.

Uneventful indeed.

I found your point about boyfriends father in close proximity to your underwear quite funny. It sounds like things are going well for you :)

I see you redecorated you blog too, looks good.

Love the new blog look...and the title question "what now?"...well I guess you have to get used to someone else's father being close to your underwear, where you pee, and even where you have sex,

Try and relax about the Scott moving in thing. It will just take getting used to petal xx

Love the new look. The funny thing is that I was just in the process of changing my template when I popped over to your site...yours is definitely prettier!

I love the new template, chicky. Very pretty and easy to navigate!

I'm only guessing that you're still somewhat in a state of shock over how fast all of this has happened. But you WILL get used to sharing space and living together. You've already made room for him in your heart, now it's just a matter of making space for him in your personal bubble. But I have no doubt that if you both work together, communicate, and compromise... it will work out.

I can't believe you have to tell them by Christmas. I know you have a kind of... more formal relationship with your parents. But just remember that this is your life, your choice, your love, and you're following your heart. That's what is important. And Scott will be right by your side going through all of it, every step of the way.

NOW! Why have you not returned my texts or called me! I've been worried about you! You know you can call me anytime, right? If you need to talk (or even just want to) you know how to get a hold of me. I'll be there to listen if you need a friend.

*HUGS*

(laughing)

You have to somehow keep that a secret until Christmas???

You're cah-ray-zee! I would slip up within five minutes of handing him a key.

You live with a BOY! It's fun! Well, most of the time. Enjoy!

Yep - I love the new look, too! I know how you feel - I lived with my gf for years before I stopped telling my parents she was my "roommate" and that that spare room was really an office.

Well I think it's great that he didn't have much to give away (a particle board book case indeed!) and that you're now happily in your love shack. Don't panic re the reassurance thing - I think we all need it in times of stress. You're doing GREAT!
