Spaghetti!

I was greeted at home this week by two pots on the stove. Scott had made spaghetti. I don't know why I was so elated: he does all the cooking in our home (score!), but it's never even been started when I walk in the door, much less completed. Furthermore, because his kitchen specialty is Italian, he never makes it or eats it at home. I knew the spaghetti was made to please me.

I clapped my hands and looked around the apartment, but Scott wasn't there. I dug my cell phone out of my bag.

"Hello?"

"You looooooooooove me!" I cheered. "Where are you?"

"I'm outside with Annoying Neighbor." (My term, not his.)

"You made spaghetti!" I cooed.

He laughed at my appreciation. "Well don't get too excited. It's just the jar stuff that my step-mom left us. It was the only thing we had in the apartment."

"But it was made by the time I got here. And it's spaghetti!" I chattered.

"I can't believe you're getting this worked up over something so small. It's no big deal, really."

But it was a big deal to me.

And when I came home the very next evening, I saw this:

And this:

He lit candles, moved the table from the wall, uncorked a bottle of wine, roasted a chicken, and prepared a salad and a heaping bowl of mashed potatoes. All waiting for me when I got home.

This time I danced and jumped while I clapped. "You love me! You love me!" I exclaimed.

"I thought I would really give you something to be excited about," he said. "And seeing the look on your face made it all worth it."

Last night I ate two navel oranges for dinner. I'm officially jealous of you having a wife of your very own.

How freaking adorable!!! The fact that you are so appreciative of it makes all the difference in the world. Something tells me he'll be doing this a little more often now.

And you have Two-Buck Chuck (Trader Joe's wine) on the table! LOVE!!!!!!!!

I finally just got caught up on all your entries and DUDE! I am so happy for you. It sounds, even with all the ups and downs, like a functional and normal relationship.

You know my number if you want/need somebody to talk to, thoug! I miss our conversations!

This is very cool!

The next time I hear anyone complaining about how girls are so hard to please and how you just HAVE to spend so much money on them I'm going to direct them to this entry. It doesn't take much does it? I totally feel your excitement over this! YAY :D

Does Scott give courses????

This is great, but I hope you're not doing this as some sort of good Scott PR because an anonymous person called Scott an "abusive jerk" in your previous entry.

Um, quick question - I may have missed something, but I thought Scott wasn't drinking anymore - is it appropriate to have alcohol in the house while dealing with that?

I like to call my boyfriend my "house spouse" when he does things like that. Those days are the best!!

To anonymous 11:30am - Scott hasn't quit drinking, he just promises to quit every once in a while whenever Sarah gets fed up enough to threaten taking away his gravy train.

Hopefully one of these times the quitting will last longer than a few days and he can actually turn his life around, but I'm not all that hopefuly until he gets some outside help...

I would make dinner for someone who was supporting my drinking habit and letting me live at their apartment while I sat at home all day, going to work to wash cars when I felt like it.

Yay!

I ALWAYS take photos when Jukebox cooks for me, or we stop a DVD to have a romantic dinner by candlelight.

The chicken looks tasty.
