Handwritten

I write.

I write in the shower. I write while commuting. I write constantly. Seriously. I even think in the narrative. This usually leads to me writing on unusual items. If I died unexpectantly, my mother would be shocked upon cleaning out my apartment. My scrawl would be all over discarded receipts, DVD instruction books, stock quotes, magazines, the mirrors, a pad of paper on my bedside table, a small notebook tucked away in my purse.

This invariably will come as quite a shock to her. My parents think I have given up writing.

My diary is stuffed with pieces of scrap paper of entries yet to be written or blog posts that have never materialized. Most are unpublishable because I used real names. Here are a few one-liners I've managed to dig up.

And I'm not going to tell you who they are about. What would be the fun in that?

I do that too!

I've got little post-it ideas and scribbled-on receipts stuffed into random pockets, change purses, car consoles, folded into books, etc. You never know when something perfect will pop into your mind. :)

That is fun.

The first quote: apparently E.B. White wrote a poem about a spider that made his wife fall in love with him, so it is possible. :)

Not being a stalker, but the last picture looks like its from Lucky magazine, the YSL eyeshadows I have been lusting over... Yes I have a makeup obsession, even though I rarely wear any.

Ha! It is from this month's Lucky mag!

Yep...same here. Writing everywhere on everything and thinking in the narrative. Caught myself doing it last night when I took the kids swimming and was sitting there thinking. When I realized I was doing it, I just laughed. (And I thought you said your handwriting was bad...)

Writing things down on scrap paper reminds me of how Jerry Seinfeld wrote down a joke that he made in a dream while still half asleep and then later could not decipher. Except your writing is very clear!

Hey Sarah, I've been following your blog since around Feb 2010ish (can't remember what were the exact keywords, but I was upset about a fight I had with my ex boyfriend so... the search words were probably not to do with anything pleasant) and I have to tell you, I really love the way you express yourself and your view towards life through your blog. I almost feel like I know you (apparently, feeling that you know someone from their writing is a common phenomenon) and I just wanted to drop you a message :)

Love,
Valerina
P.S. Nice handwriting, by the way :D

I, too, think in the narrative...almost every situation is cause for a "story" in my head. Perhaps because the story I fabricate is potentially better than the reality, but it's there none the less. Funny how the conversations in my head, or the letters, emails, etc. all sound better in my head than they do if I actually say them or put them on paper! That is the one thing about this that drives me crazy!

I do this, too. Funny thing is, I know exactly what I scribbled where--so to me these writings make perfect sense, but an outsider would probably think I am completely crazy.

I meant to say that I like your handwriting. :) Unfortunately, my writing is now close to illegible, if I write more than a sentence or two.

I have notes all over the place, and notebooks with ideas from 1994. :)

I was writing everywhere until I hunkered down to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing. One year out and I'm still slow to pick up a pen. Now I dabble in writing. And I admire those who still write everywhere.

IF only the first one were true, I'd have it all... or would I?
